3.1.6 Tokenisation: Step 4 – Customer Card Payment and Authentication

The Customer makes a payment on the merchant's payment page.
From the customer's point of view, this is a payment journey.
From the merchant's point of view, this is a customer onboarding journey, resulting in the customer's card details being tokenized
Take note, this is a lengthy batch process and runs as scheduled tasks between VFS and the bank.
It should never be relied upon to be returned quickly or included in a synchronous user–journey with the customer.


3.1.6.1 Card Payment

The customer makes an initial payment on the payment page.
The payment can be an auth–only or an auth–and–settle transaction type.

3.1.6.2 3D Secure Check

Card checks are performed, a 3D Secure check is done on the card, and the customer is asked to enter an OTP.
